Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Color Splash Lipstick - Rum Punch & Siesta Swatches & Review

The new Tarte lipsticks have been raved about on Instagram and Youtube, with claims that they are super moisturizing, long-lasting, and pigmented.

I put shades Rum Punch (neutral, brown-tone nude) and Siesta (cool-tone, mauve) to the test to see they match the claims.

1. Longevity - 3/5
Overall, the longevity of this lipstick is not bad for it being a "stick" lip product. It's definitely not transfer-proof but when it wears off, it wears off nicely. It doesn't last through eating and drinking a full meal, but can likely last you through a light drink.

2. Pigmentation - 5/5
Great color payoff! The shades are bold, rich and fully opaque with just one swipe. If you're looking for a full coverage lipstick, then these are perfect!

3. Consistency - 3/5
They're quite light and almost mousse-like on the lips, especially upon application. Personally, they seem to dry down on me, making it go from a satin-creme finish to a satin-matte which I think is pretty nice. I will say, however, that these lipsticks are not totally moisturizing. I did notice it clinging to some dry patches on my lips, so bear this in mind if you're planning on purchasing these lipsticks for these claims. This isn't to say they're overly drying, but they also are not the most moisturizing lipsticks I've tried.

Other thoughts:
Everyone already knows, but the packaging is beautiful.
As a fan of nude lipsticks, I think the color range is also quite nice. The range has wearable nude shades suitable for many different skintones, so Tarte did well there.

Do I recommend? If you want to add another great lipstick to your collection, then absolutely.
However, you can find dupes for a lot of these colors as well.

These lipsticks retail for $21 USD and are available on Sephora.com.
